Market stumped on BoJ plans to replace governor

Speculation had suggested that Japanese prime minister Junchiro Koizumi was set to appoint an aggressive governor to help address Japan’s multitude of economic problems. But that speculation has now receded. "Koizumi gave an indication recently that a radical head of the BoJ will not be appointed," said Joanne Collins, senior economist at Daiwa SBCM Europe in London. "But no names are appearing in the Japanese press in connection with the job."
