Boom time for research staff
Barclays Capital and Bank of America have been hiring aggressively in recent months as they seek to build their FX businesses with research at the core.
Larry Kantor, global head of economics and market strategy at Barclays Capital in New York, said that research has grown in importance as a tool to win client business in recent years. "It is now more difficult for investment banks and commercial banks to distinguish themselves with clients as they can no longer do it on execution alone," he said
