Planté keeps his responsibilities for global commodities and derivatives in addition to his new role, which was created as part of the bank's continuing focus on European and North American financial markets, the bank said.

Planté is responsible for FX and capital markets in the two regions, reporting jointly to Gordon Branston, regional head of Europe and the Americas in London, and Rick Sawers, managing director of foreign exchange and commodities, based in Melbourne.

Planté joined ANZ in 1997
