Bank of China opens in Bahrain

An official at the Bank of China in Hungary said the office would not initially complete any banking business for clients due to the terms of its licence. Representative offices cannot conduct trade or business in Bahrain and are limited to collecting general financial, economic and commercial information, offering representation and assisting customers of the bank. The official said this is in preparation for the future expansion of the presence to become an offshore banking unit (OBU).
