Rosenberg, Stanley Resign From Midland, N.Y. Ahead Of Merger With Hongkong & Shanghai

Midland Bank announced its final six-month earnings Thursday, but its plans to merge its trading operations with those of Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) overshadowed news of its performance in the first half. In fact, the earnings were released on the same day that Alan Rosenberg, the bank's treasurer in New York and Tom Stanley, who headed its trading operation there, announced their resignations.

Rosenberg says the impending merger prompted the two of them to quit the bank
