ABN Amro Plans Emerging Markets Desk In London To Handle Forex & Money Markets

BANKS

ABN Amro is starting an emerging markets trading desk in London which should be up and running by mid-February, says Mike Janes, head of exotics and emerging markets, FX and money markets, in London.

Janes says the decision to set up such a desk was due to customer demand, as well as to the advent of the planned single European currency slated for 1999. The bank is currently awaiting systems installations and upgrades before the desk can begin trading, he adds.
