Bank of America has appointed group executive vice president Gerald Doherty, as head of the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Group. Doherty replaces group executive vice president Ralph Schauss, who will head EMEA Emerging Markets, responsible for the bank's existing business and expansion in these markets.

Doherty, who will transfer to London, maintains his current responsibilities as head of the global capital markets group (GCMG), a post which he took up at the bank's headquarters in
