Regional banks are increasingly competitive at market-making in their local currencies, as the availability of technology allows them to translate local expertise and flows into price-making to customers and some large bank peers.

Currencies such as the Turkish lira, the South African rand and the Israeli shekel are seeing a growing share of trading done by banks with local franchises, as the ready availability of price engines and distribution hubs allow these banks to become price-makers
