Just as regulation creates new challenges for market participants, so it also brings opportunity for post-trade technology vendors such as Traiana. In the first part of 2014, the most pressing challenge for many participants is mandatory trade reporting under the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (Emir), which is due to come into effect on February 12. Buy-side firms in particular are struggling to get to grips with Emir, which will require both counterparties to report every trade.
