FX Invest Europe: Investors cautious on prospects for renminbi

Foreign exchange investors have expressed caution over the prospects for Chinese renminbi, despite the currency's growth trajectory in recent years and its internationalisation since it was depegged from the US dollar in June 2010.

Speaking at the FX Invest Europe conference in Zurich earlier this week, buy-side speakers stated their preference for other emerging market (EM) currencies such as the Brazilian real and the Mexican peso.
