Multibank options platforms proliferate

Competition in multibank options trading is heating up with the launch this month of two new ventures by FXCM and SurfacExchange, in addition to similar platforms rolled out by GFI Fenics, Digital Vega and Alpari over the past nine months.

But with some banks concerned about the potential depth and quality of liquidity available on such platforms, and rivals warning of the difficulty of moving exotic options electronic, the five platforms face an uphill struggle to gain traction in this new
