Exchange volumes continue rise in August

The average daily volume in notional terms reached $103 billion last month, up from $76 billion in August 2009. Contract volumes were up 8% sequentially, the exchange said.

Meanwhile, Thomson Reuters said average daily foreign exchange spot volumes were in excess of $124 billion in August. This represents a 5% increase from August last year and is largely flat on the previous month. Data reflects trading across Thomson Reuters Dealing, Matching and Reuters Trading for FX.
