Nomura parts ways with Haley

LONDON – Nick Haley, co-head of European foreign exchange sales, has resigned from Nomura in London.

According to a market source, Haley left last week and his future plans are unclear.

Haley joined Nomura from Lehman Brothers following its collapse to co-head Nomura's European FX sales with Fabrizio Russo (FX Week, October 20, 2008).

At Lehman Brothers, Haley worked in real-money FX sales with Ian Burgess and was joined at Nomura by Elizabeth Farrell and Chris Jackson (FX Week, October 13 2008). Jackson has since decamped to Société Générale, in October 2009.

Haley's departure follows that of James Lamb and Steven Ware from Nomura's sales team (FX Week, January 25). Lamb was head of FX sales for London and Ware was a senior salesperson in London. Both are tipped to be heading to French bank Natixis.

Meanwhile, Mathijs Peeters started at Nomura last Monday (February 1) as head of northern Europe FX coverage at managing-director level (FX Week, November 9, 2009). He is focusing on real-money managers.

Nomura declined to comment about Haley's desparture but confirmed the hire of Mathijs Peeters.
