Globex Extends Trading Hours As It Prepares To Debut In Japan

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) received approval from its board of governors last Thursday to expand Globex trading hours for currency and interest-rate products to include an afternoon session, effective March 4. At the same time, the board gave the go-ahead for startup of the system in Japan.

The automated trading system for futures and options was launched in 1992, and now has designs on the Pacific Rim. The extended hours are expected to coincide with the beginning of trading on Globex
