EBS ends sale speculation

The news ended mounting speculation that the electronic FX dealing platform has been looking for a buyer since July 2004, when it appointed Citigroup as strategic advisers. The bank consortium owned-platform had since confirmed that one of the strategic options under review included a potential sale of the business.

Icap issued a statement saying it is in "preliminary discussions" with EBS regarding the possible acquisition. The statement followed media reports that the interdealer broker
