FX could move to financial settlement under clearing pressure – GFXD’s Lam

More foreign exchange derivatives could move towards financial rather than physical settlement in the coming years if the market fails to find a satisfactory and resilient mechanism for clearing deliverable FX products such as options, a senior industry lobbyist has suggested.

Speaking at the FX Week USA conference in New York yesterday, Mandy Lam, managing director for North America at the global FX division (GFXD) of the Global Financial Markets Association, highlighted a number of scenarios
