FX derivatives volume grew by 9% in H2 2010, says BIS

The total notional outstanding in the OTC foreign exchange derivatives market rose by almost 9% from $53.13 trillion in the first half of 2010 to $57.80 trillion in the second half, according to the latest data from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

In its semi-annual report on OTC derivatives market activity, published today, the BIS found volume increased during the second half in outright forwards, FX swaps and currency swaps, but volume in FX options dropped by 9.5% from $11.15
