LONDON--Halifax is preparing to enter the FX and FX derivatives arena with a new team in London, says Roger Woodbridge, director of derivatives and FX. The bank has hired Nigel Coupland, formerly WestLB's FX manager, to spearhead the venture.

Coupland is expected to join Halifax in September and the new outfit will be fully operational once all the building blocks have been put in place, Woodbridge says. These will include further staff hires, establishing credit lines and systems installations
