The unwinding of the US Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing programme and the resulting $4.5 trillion of assets is likely to take three to four years to reach a level that is deemed normal, Charles Evans, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), said at the ACI Financial Market Association’s 2017 World Congress in Dublin.
