KX has been a leader in high-performance, in-memory computing, streaming analytics and operational intelligence for 30 years. It offers optimal performance and flexibility for high-volume, data-intensive analytics and applications across multiple industries from its 15 offices across Europe, North America and Asia‑Pacific.

“At the heart of everything, KX is a data management platform providing in-the-moment, efficient real-time decision-making,” says Martin Haines, KX Asia’s Singapore-based managing director. “Independently verified as the world’s fastest time-series database, kdb+ enables KX to deploy a series of mission-critical systems to our more than 200 clients globally in a complete operational ecosystem encompassing exchanges, regulators, trading venues, buy side, sell side and other key FX market participants.

“What we have built on that foundation are a series of applications that comprehensively and robustly address the ongoing needs in financial markets and, over the extreme market volatility that we’ve seen in the past year or so, our system has proven to be rock solid.”

One such core application is KX Flow, which provides FX execution, and deep liquidity and low latency connectivity for banks and brokerage firms offering corporate, institutional and retail FX trading. Built around kdb+, KX Flow is offered as a service deeply integrated with client applications and workflows. As a result of kdb+’s speed and performance, KX Flow is able to capture more data, faster than any other FX platform, for immediate use via real-time streaming analytics, providing users with a distinct competitive edge.

Running in parallel with this is the KX Streaming Analytics platform, which allows for streaming real-time data capture. When combined with cutting-edge HTML5 visualisations, it enables platform users to gain a more in-depth understanding of the behaviour of liquidity providers and end-user clients. The real-time nature of the analytics product allows users to immediately understand performance and how it can be optimised, while historical analytics enable a broader picture of behaviour over time, enabling full transparency for end-user clients. “For clients in the financial sector – where the immediacy, accuracy and validity of data is critical for every aspect of their business from algorithmic trading to regulatory compliance and surveillance – it’s game-changing,” says Haines.

In doing so, KX Streaming Analytics provides banks, hedge funds, trading houses, exchanges and other major market players with cost-effective, end-to-end workflow solutions to optimally deal with the ever-evolving demands of market regulators. This capability, in turn, is complemented by the KX Surveillance product, which provides tools for the compliance, control and audit sections of a financial operation to observe and monitor actions, including trade surveillance, e-communications surveillance and voice surveillance.

Cognisant of the fast-moving needs of clients around all of this analytics capability, KX allows clients to extend out the company’s operating capabilities to whatever they need, and a key component of this is the KX Insights product, which provides a cloud-native platform for critical real-time and historical performance with continuous actionable intelligence.

“The KX Insights product gives us the flexibility to allow clients to take their KX solution to deploy natively on the cloud,” says Haines. “If a client uses, for example, Amazon Web Services, Google or Azure, the KX solution can leverage native cloud services on any one of those providers.

“Clients can also have multiple cloud providers for backup and contingency purposes, so there are evident cost-savings benefits, combined with auto-scaling, compute, disaster recovery and security efficiencies to be exploited,” he underlines.

This breadth, depth and relevance of KX’s core platform and its corollary suite of products were singled out by the judges of the FX Markets Asia Awards 2021 for the Best FX analytics provider award.

“It is clear KX has adopted a multifaceted approach to solution delivery that yields some great results for current and prospective clients,” they said. “The multi-industry applicability of the KX suite of solutions ensures it is the best analytics provider – in particular the Streaming Analytics platform.”
